Birthdays and Princesses: Birthday Princess

My mom and sister gave me my first birthday present over the weekend. When is my birthday, you're wondering? Oh. Not until July 28. End of May is about par for the course though in regards to when it starts. I LOVE MY BIRTHDAY. Well, and just birthdays in general. It's just how I roll. Maybe I won't love it so much once I hit 30? But let's get real, 30 is far off for me. Much farther off than say... for my sister-in-law. Oops.

Happy Birthday MEEEE
 Anyway, I saw this quote somewhere online....

"We can't all be a princess.... someone has to clap when I go by"

I immediately thought of my seester. Pretty much sums up our childhood.

PROOF:

Me, the Tooth Fairy & Seester, the Tooth
 I would like to take a moment to thank our mother for recogizing the truth about our relationship at such a young age.

That's all.

3. This CHEVRON (obsessed) dress from F21.

4. This lipstick from MAC - Vegas Volt.

5. These sandals from F21.

6. This hot husband's haircut. Seriously. Dreamy.

7. This baby gender reveal - my cousin is having a BOY!!

8. This little brother turned 15. Wait. Hold the phone. HOW IS HE 15?!

9. I get to see my family this weekend!! TGIF. TGIATDW. (thanks goodness it's a three day weekend).

Okay. I lied. That was definitely more than five favorite things. What can I say? It's been a good week!

And just for good measure, wanna know my least favorite thing this week?

MY CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF I-45 DURING MORNING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. Cool. And it's going to cost $1700 to fix. Even better.

Happy Friday :)

Hello Monday

Hello Monday. Hello friends!

This weekend was so much fun. I am part of a group of five girlfriends from college. Now, three of us are married, one is engaged and one has a really cute new boyfriend. We are hardly ever all together unless it's for a wedding or something important. This weekend, Kali graduated from law school and all ten of us were there - plus Hunter our bestie. We are so proud of her! We spent the entire weekend together. Bliss.

Last night, I made the easiest, yummiest dinner ever. Grilled pesto, mozzarella, tomato sandwiches. I promise you want to try these.

After dinner, the husband and I went to see What To Expect When You're Expecting.

I enjoyed it. Austin said "you owe me for this" - whatever that means. It was less comical and more emotional than I expected. I left wanting a baby. Doh!

Here's to enjoying the season of life we're in right now - just the two of us. Here's to unbelievable job offers and the Lord's provision. Here's to a new week!

Happy Monday!

Thanks Babe

I find myself surrounded by talented people. I know graphic designers, really good, amazing, creative graphic designers. I know photographers. I know videographers. I know artists. I know one freakishly good monkey gymnast. I know singers. I know dancers. I know an Olympic speed skater with five (one GOLD) Olympic medals. I told you... surrounded.

This led me to the question, what am I good at?

So of course I asked the person closest to me, my husband.

He said, well... you're good at Facebook.

Thanks babe.

Hello Monday

Hello Monday. Hello friends! I am in a strangely good mood this morning even after having woken up at 5:30am {5:30!!!}. If you know me, you know I consider the early morning to be straight from the devil. Any time I am up before the sun, I am up too early. Thank goodness my new job has free coffee! The free coffee should probably receive credit for my good mood.

Thank you, Ryder Scott Company.
I hope all you mamas out there had a happy day yesterday. I hope you felt celebrated and honored and blessed by your husbands and children. In honor of Mother's Day my mom bought me a JCrew skirt I've been drooling over... because you know, I'm not a mom so that makes sense. Really because she's the best. Thanks Momma!

We celebrated Mother's Day with my sister-in-law, Lynsey, Chad & the girls, and Chad's family. I feel so blessed to have married into the family I have. Even though I'm not technically related to Chad's family I feel like I am a part of it. His sister Natalie, feels like my own. His parents, Paul & Wanda are amazing, seriously. Austin and I went to church for the first time together since we have been married. Before he was always working on Sunday so we were never able to actually attend together. It was such a blessing. We had lunch at Wunsche Brothers in Old Town Spring and spent the rest of the day by the pool.

Saturday night we went to my new company's 75th Anniversary party. Austin was the life of the party. Typical. And the old ladies were loving him. Afterward we met up with our good friend Brad who we hadn't seen in way too long. We love him. We can't wait until he and Sarah get hitched in November!

Besties
My other sister-in-law, Abbey, started a blog. It's hilarious. You have to read this post and make fun of her. It brought me this gem:

ears. teeth. that's all.
Thanks to my sister, everyone now has a copy of a picture of me from 3rd grade. It's horrific. They call me T-Rex.

RAWR
I have now decided we should not have children.

SEE?? They're doomed.
Do any of you watch Vampire Diaries? Seriously - the finale??

yes please.
How was that for random? Happy Monday y'all!

She is...

She was born in Chicago, but she was raised in the Lone Star State. She grew up listening to Elvis, of course. She went to Texas A&M where she met the love of her life. They were married in August of 1986. She gave birth to their first and favorite child, a girl, on July 28, 1988. On that day, she became a mother.

She is beautiful - inside and out. People always say I look like her. I say, thank you for the compliment. She is smart, kind, generous, wise, gracious, and selfless. She is stylish and fun. Most importantly, she loves Jesus. She is the Proverbs 31 woman. She is my mother. She is my best friend.

A wife of noble character, who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.
She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.
She gets up while it is still night;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her female servants.
She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.
She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.
When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.
She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.
Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

I will arise and call her blessed. I will honor her for all that her hands have done. I will bring her praise.

I am the luckiest.
